Air Pressure Rocket - 02.01

Compressed air is pumped into a rocket, by pressing it onto the air nozzle at the base of the unit. When the rockets is released, the air shoots it upward along the transparent track, demonstrating how the principle of action and reaction is applied to rocket propulsion.

Explore Newton’s three laws of motion! Since Aristotle’s time, people have been strug-gling to understand how and why objects move. This exhibit illustrates the specific relationship between force, mass and speed. It clarifies that by applying a force to an object this can be moved.

  1. Add pressure to the reservoir with the hand pump.
  2. Release the rocket.
  3. See how the pressure in the rocket relates to the height of the launch.
