Transformer - 07.15

This exhibit demonstrates how an transformer works. How a wire carrying current generates a magnetic field.

A transformer is made up of two coils. The current trough a wire will generates a magnetic field, when there is a changing magnetic field the secondary coil will generates a current. There is a difference between the number of windings. We use a transformer in a lot of home applications.

  1. Push the start button.
  2. Rotate the coil with 400 windings in front of the primary coil.
  3. Move the coil to the primary coil and back. See what happens.
  4. Rotate the coil with 800 windings in front of the primary coil.
  5. Move the coil to the primary coil and back. See what happens.
  6. See the difference between both coils.
