This exhibit demonstrates how an transformer works. How a wire carrying current generates a magnetic field.
A transformer is made up of two coils. The current trough a wire will generates a magnetic field, when there is a changing magnetic field the secondary coil will generates a current. There is a difference between the number of windings. We use a transformer in a lot of home applications.
- Push the start button.
- Rotate the coil with 400 windings in front of the primary coil.
- Move the coil to the primary coil and back. See what happens.
- Rotate the coil with 800 windings in front of the primary coil.
- Move the coil to the primary coil and back. See what happens.
- See the difference between both coils.
