Description
In ‘Catch them if you can,’ sticks fall randomly. The goal is to catch the falling sticks. Your reaction time determines how quickly you do this. Reaction time is the interval between perceiving a situation and responding to it.
Your reaction time is very important for safety. How quickly do you react, for example, when you touch a hot object? And how quickly do you react in traffic if a car suddenly comes out of a street?
Companies use knowledge about reaction time. When designing devices with buttons or screens, designers consider how quickly people react to a stimulus.
Advancing technology allows us to expect increasingly better training for improving reaction time. Athletes, for instance, work on speeding up their reaction time to start faster than their opponents.
