Viscosity is a measure of how quickly a liquid flows: the higher the viscosity, the thicker the liquid and the slower it flows. The viscosity of a liquid is influenced by its composition and temperature. Generally, at higher temperatures, the viscosity of a liquid decreases. So, warm liquids flow more easily than cold ones.
When designing food products such as sauces, yogurt, and beverages, viscosity is important. It ensures that we enjoy them, but also allows for efficient mixing, transportation, and packaging in factories.
Even in 3D printing, viscosity matters: the melted plastic must become just viscous enough that it flows evenly from the print head.
How fast does a liquid flow?
